Running 550/650 inj and walbro 190 with no fpr

Postby ArcaineGST » Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:05 am

I was wondering if anyone was running an Evo III 16g (or similar cfm turbo) with 550 or 650 fic injectors, a walbro 190 rewired, and ecuplus for tuning with NO FPR?

I guess I'm basically asking if it is possible to use the stock fuel setup except for new FIC 550s or 650s and a rewired walbro 190 fuel pump. Anyone doing it, done it, tried it and ended up getting an FPR or AFPR after all?

Thanks
Jim

Correct me if I am wrong but from my understanding a wally 190 is ok on our cars without an aftermarket FPR but any injectors much larger then 650 might warrant a 255 with a FPR. From my understanding the basic rule of thumb for our fuel system is as follows:

If: Wally 190 & rewired
Then: 650cc injectors are "ok" and no FPR is needed (so I've read anyway)

If: Wally 255 (rewired or not)
Then: Injector size wont be a problem unless your going huge turbo (not your case, EVO III 16g all the way!) but you will need a FPR

If I'm wrong someone please correct me, another good option is to go to DSMsource.com or the likes and do a little research, but as far as Im concerned this is the fuel system guidelines I am working off of and everyone seems to follow... granted I have the 255 with the FPR and 560cc Evo injectors... kinda overkill... but leaves room to upgrade right!?!

Here is a great resource for your questions, the info at the top is kinda daunting but the info down a ways in the doc is awesome if you aren't into the algebra of it... http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/article ... ystem.html

Haha, I'm on Dsmtuners with the same S/N and haven't found that one yet. I'll check it out. Thanks for the info rvaughn.

I have 750 injectors and the 255 rewired pump and I have not had the need for a fpr, just a thought. :D
