New features in the upcoming ECU+ firmware/software v2.10

Postby tlcoll1 » Wed May 16, 2007 10:37 pm

Now that I'm getting close to getting this done, I figured I'd post a list of the "stuff" that's coming up in the version 2.10 ECU+ firmware/software upgrade. Free to existing customers, of course.

1. Can now edit all settings offline (not connected to the box) and upload the settings later. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=357

2. Supports GM 3.5" MAFs on the EVOs.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=428

3. Fuel and timing maps have those gradient colors, like on EcuFlash. I also ported over all of the fancy "interpolate different ways" menu items.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=486

4. Launch control and no-lift shifting done. Includes the always-dangerous anti-lag thingie, where you retard timing a bunch to spool the turbo. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=217

5. Two sets of fuel/timing maps with advanced switching. GUI colors and map numbers also change on the fly to indicate which map set you're using - really slick.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=611

6. Palm support going away.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=430

7. MUT-II logging and diagnostics. This works on the 1G DSMs and 2G DSMs as well, and lets everyone see knock sum and fuel trims. 1G support finally finished up, and includes "auto on" for those cars. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=433

8. Tactrix-compatible OBD-II port implemented. With this, the ECU+ software-disconnects from the OBD-II port when the port is not in use. Allows EcuFlash or potentially other OBD-II tools to hook up to the OBD-II port under the dash when the ECU+ isn't "doing anything." Since the ECU+ is still physically connected, this isn't 100% guaranteed. But so far no one's said it doesn't work for them.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=435

9. Shift+arrow keys move graph cursors with the keyboard only, and allow you to easily go to the next or previous points. This took me five days of work to implement.

10. The Apply button on the configuration settings now works. This required a complete rewrite of the configuration screens.

11. Configuration screens now show a Netscape-like list of configuration categories on the left side. This replaces the ever-increasing rows of tabs, which had gotten out of hand.

12. All-in-one graph view w/easily configurable individual scaling. Works in place of or as a supplement to the normal graph views.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=375

13. Can trim already-saved log files.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=368

14. No-longer-stupid way of selecting what views are shown.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=370

15. Go-to-next-WOT jump and zoom in feature.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=359

16. ECU+ now logs vacuum as well as boost if your MAP sensor supports it.

17. New Freescale MAP sensor support.
http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=339

18. Innovate LC-1 support, finally.

19. Auto-name log files with no prompting.
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showpost.p ... stcount=11

20. Snazzy GUI Installer.

21. MAP sensor GUI to allow you to tweak your MAP sensor to match your boost gauge. Also, AEM 5 bar MAP sensor added. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=629

22. AFR is now shown on dyno plot. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=620

23. The software now "remembers" the MAP sensor type and analog input/wideband types inside the .ecd file.

24. EVO ROM editing and map tracing - over a month of work on this. Hard to describe how cool this is. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=446

25. Simulated front O2 sensor generation. http://www.ecuplus.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3269

26. Better P0300 suppression for 2G DSM guys with 6-bolt swaps.

27. Dyno cursor tracks-back to the normal views. With this, when your dyno plot cursor is on the 5000 RPM position, the normal graph cursors also move to the 5000 RPM point that generated the HP and torque curve. Really nifty.

28. Instantaneous knock voltage display (now the new default) is now correct, and shows the highest amplitude value since the last sample (previously, spikes in-between datalogging samples could get lost).

29. New File->Properties dialog box that shows all of your settings at the start of a particular capture.

30. Lowered minimum injector scale setting for 1G DSM guys, some of whom seem to be using the ECU+ on non-turbo cars.

31. Fixed "disappearing dyno plot" bug, where the dyno plot would go away and it wouldn't be possible to get it back.

32. Default installs include latest firmware (no longer a separate download), firmware update utilities, and a new serial port tester utility.

33. Serial port transfers are now checksummed and retried. This should fix head unit settings corruption issues that some people with USB-to-serial adapters were seeing.

Sounds Great! only problems I've found so far (which may not mean much since I tend to have the odd problems  ) are these:
-NLTS on Evo doesn't work perfectly only because the OE clutch trigger is sensitive far too early, still havent looked into moving it back yet or if that's even possible. Those who try the NLTS will know what I mean.
-Still can't get EcuFlash to connect with the ecu+ connected to the OBDII port, I still have the oldschool switch mod to remedy that.

Tom, you are a good man, that is all.

I talked about it a bit in the linked thread. The Palm software is a pain. I still may do it, but it's gonna be at the expense of time - how long are people willing to wait for the new stuff?

Yea, I believe that it is pretty sensitive. And there is a second clutch switch on the EVOs that's way farther down in the travel, but I'm not sure whether it'd be a better fit or not. The clutch disengages really early in the pedal travel on the EVOs - if you did NLTS based on the low switch, your RPMs would have long since shot way up. So it seems like the top clutch switch is the answer.

Ryan - you're just plain cursed on this issue! If you and me and my oscilloscope are ever in the same place at the same time, we're gonna figure out what's up with this.

Hey, send me an e-mail telling me what was up with your initial install problem after I sent your unit back.

That's the goal!

Be sure to tell your friends. Remember that yours-truly works for free for existing customers, and the only way I'm gonna put my youngster through college is if new people buy the ECU+. Otherwise, "you want fries with that" is gonna be my evening job.

will any of the new features require the box to be sent in

I know no lift and the map switch needs it, but does anything else require it sent in

I only use my Palm every once in a while to either check a check engine light or do a quick WOT run to see my air/fuel... I dont think I have ever tuned with it. I approve dumping the Palm software 8) and UhHHH i dont wanna wait any longer for 2.10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not 100% sure, but I belive the firmware would be enough to impliment the no lift shift... I dont think TOm would be happy with hundreds of ECU+ going to his house :P

Just those two for now, and probably one more in the future that the DSMers care about.
